Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

Thursday, March 29, 2018, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: Front St - Sanctuary, 23 S. Front St., Hamilton, OH US 45011

Plan now to join us for our Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service.  This has become a very popular Lenten event at the Presby and we encourage to you attend and participate in this meaningful worship experience.

"Tenebrae" means shadows, and our worship will include and allow you to experience some of the shadows that Christ himself endured.  As scripture is read, you will see candles extinguished and the sanctuary become darkened.   At the close of the service, the bell will toll seven times, slowly and deliberately, to mark the fullness of the sufferings of Christ.

This service will involve our church leaders as scripture readers, congregational singing, and special music by our choir, the Celebration Singers.  At the close of the service, everyone leaves in silence and quiet reflection on the suffering and death of our Savior.  Although the story is the same, the music will be different, so it is always a new experience for all.

Attendance at our Maundy Thursday service and our Good Friday "Way of the Cross" Walk will help you to fully appreciate the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Easter morning!
