Deacons’ Corner…                    

The Board of Deacons relies on the generosity of our congregation to help fund our various activities and responsibilities throughout the church and surrounding community.  Deacons regularly serve on all of our church’s committees, as well as on the Open Door Pantry Operations Committee, help church and community members with financial needs, visit shut-ins, provide meals and flowers for funerals and memorial services, and also help with church-wide events. 

 

During the months of September and October the following donations and/or expenses were paid by the Deacons Fund:

 

Bereavement                                          $    100.00

Help to Others                                        $  1858.23

Community Meal Center                            $   200.00

Open Door Pantry                                   $   400.00

Salvation Army                                       $   400.00

Family Promise                                               $   200.00

Missions                                                          $   550.00

VIP’s   (Shut-ins)                                             $      95.49

 

Total Donations/Expenses:                                  - $3803.72

 

Collections received                               +$ 1039.00

 

Deacons have recently been involved in various activities including:

  • Visiting and sending cards to VIP’s
  • Stocking shelves at the Open Door Pantry
  • Sending out cards to those in need
  • Handing out Afghans to those in need
  • Helping to prepare and serve communion and work as greeters
  • Helping to provide coffee for services
  • Helping with neighborhood events, such as Trunk or Treat
  • Helping to organize the Presby’s involvement in the Community Blood Drive held at Zion Lutheran.
  • Providing reception/meals following memorial services.
  • Helping with Missions in Motion

 

Please prayerfully consider a donation to the Deacons Fund.  Envelopes are available the first Sunday of each month in the bulletin or in the pew backs.  Additionally, if you would like to donate diapers for the Open Door Pantry, you can drop them off in the church office (Please label for “Deacons”) or give to Marla Richardson.  The Deacons greatly appreciate your continued support.

Deacons’ Corner…2016 in Review                      

The Board of Deacons relies on the generosity of our congregation to help fund various activities and responsibilities throughout our church and surrounding community.  Thank you to all that donated to the Deacons Fund throughout the year.

 

In 2016, Deacons were involved in:

  • Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
  • Stations of the Cross
  • National Day of Prayer
  • The first Annual Presbyterian Church Car Show
  • Vacation Bible School
  • 4th of July Parade
  • Mission Trips to New Mexico and Mexico

 

  • Back to Church Sunday
  • Consecration Sunday
  • City of Hamilton Trunk or Treat
  • Annual City-wide Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry
  • Christkindlmarkt
  • Live Nativity
  • Cookies to our Police and Fire Departments

 

 

Deacons are also routinely involved in other activities including:

  • Helping those in our church family and community that are in need of financial assistance for such things as auto repairs, utilities, food, clothing, Christmas gifts, etc.
  • Visiting and sending cards to shut-ins
  • Stocking shelves at Open Door Food Pantry
  • Sending out cards and afghans to those in need of prayers, healing, and encouragement
  • Helping to prepare and serve communion and work as greeters
  • Making coffee for services
  • Helping to organize the Presby’s involvement in the Community Blood Drive held at Zion Lutheran, and
  • Providing memorial donations and flowers, as well as, receptions and meals after memorial services and funerals.
