The Presbyterian Church Blitz News for the week of 7/2/2020

Posted by Trish Reynolds on

Dear Friends,

Happy 4th of July. We hope that you are doing well. If you would have told us back in March that this Pandemic will still be unfolding, I doubt any of us would have believed it. The Sub-Committee on Resuming worship met this past Tuesday. Because of the increase in COVID-19 cases, the team has chosen to postpone in-person worship at this time. The Sub-Committee will reconvene on July 13, 2020, to reaccess the situation. We look forward to the day when we can worship in-person in the most safest way possible. Stay safe! Stay healthy!

NUMBERS FOR THOUGHT: We are reaching people for Christ through our online services. When we started the year, our January average attendance was 230 individuals in Sunday morning worship. Since we have begun online services, our average Sunday morning worship has been 143 individual computers tuning in on Sunday mornings over the last 19 weeks. To get the full picture, you must take into account that one computer may have several people watching our services together, and when you multiply this average by two or three, that translates to 286 or 429 on Sunday mornings.  If that doesn’t catch your attention, here is something that may astonish you. Our services are being watched throughout the week. The average total of weekly views of our services is 1,538 over the last 18 weeks. We have had people in grocery stores and other locations introduce themselves to let us know that they watch our services and appreciate the opportunity to worship during this difficult time. Some have even said that they plan to come to our church when the Pandemic is over. We are making an impact in our community and elsewhere! We are sharing the love and truth of Christ.

We are searching for ways to get our services to those individuals without internet access. If you can help us shore up this segment, please email info@thepresby with your suggestion. We will need help from our congregation to help us reach our individuals without access to the internet.

ONLINE WORSHIP CONTINUES THIS WEEK: We will continue to stream our services on Facebook and our website. The Traditional Worship Service will be aired live on Facebook at 9:30 a.m., and the Praise Worship Service will be broadcasted at 10:45 a.m. Both services can be found on our Facebook video page at www.facebook.com/pg/thepresbyofhamilton/videos or by clicking on our “Sermons” icon on our website at www.thepresby.org.

**We have some reminders and new information to share with you this week**

UPDATE - 4th OF JULY PARADE AT WESTOVER & BERKELEY SQUARE: We are tying up details this week on Saturday, July 4th parade. Join us on July 4, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., at the AMC Theater, 1453 Main St., Hamilton, to line up and decorate your car as needed. Bring your car decorations. The parade begins at Westover Retirement Community, 855 Stahlheber Rd., Hamilton, at 10:00 a.m. Next, the parade continues at Berkeley Square Retirement Community at roughly 11:00 a.m. depending on traffic and the number of cars in the parade. Then plan to join us back at the church for social distancing ice cream. If you would like to participate, please email so that the team can make sure we have enough ice cream, water, and have the number of cars to expect!

REMINDER - INDEPENDENCE DAY: The church office will be closed on Monday, July 6, 2020, in observance of Independence Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.

REMINDER - ZOOM BIBLE STUDY: It’s not too late to join! We had 17 individuals join us on June 22, 2020, for our first Zoom Bible Study. We felt like we were one big family and felt God in our midst. Our study continues next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. This study is open to men and women and will conclude on July 22, 2020. We will be using Max Lucado’s study, Anxious for Nothing, Finding Calm in a Chaotic World. Members of The Presbyterian Church staff will be facilitating this study. If you would like to join us, please email info@thepresby or call the office, 513-867-5411, to let us know if you want to be part of this exciting new option. Registration is required. We will need to email you the Zoom meeting specifics for you to join us.  You may purchase your study guide on Amazon.com. We hope to develop several different Bible Studies over the next several months and hope you can join us to recharge your batteries during the week.

RETURN TO WORSHIP INFORMATION: Listed below are some of the details you need to keep in mind when the call is made to return to Phase II in-person worship. Each week we will share more information to help us prepare for that time.

  • Six-foot social distancing will be required. Please refrain from hugging and shaking hands, but a deep-felt wave is most appreciated.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be made readily available.
  • Coffee service will not be available during Phase II worship.
