The Presbyterian Church Blitz News for the week of 9/3/2020

Posted by Trish Reynolds on

Dear Friends,

Happy Labor Day Weekend! We hope that you are doing well. Many of you may have remembered getting a church newsletter in years past, and our Blitz was developed to meet our need to share information relating to church events and news. During this pandemic, the Blitz email has helped us communicate all the newest information with our congregation. Some individuals have mentioned that the information in the Blitz is too long. The team will be trying over the next several weeks to update and simplify the Blitz. We appreciate your input and want to keep the congregation as informed as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work through this change to better communicate with our friends and family at The Presbyterian Church.

 SECTION 2

GREEN SPACE GROUP GATHERINGS: We have had a few gatherings, and we are grateful to spend time in these small, intimate, socially distant, masked, and safe fellowship groups. We anticipate having several more of these at area parks.  If you have not been able to attend, please call the church office, 513-867-5411, so we can include you in one of our gatherings soon.  These gatherings are the first steps to returning us to Phase II in-person worship and other events.

SECTION 3

TASK FORCE ON RESUMING WORSHIP & IN-PERSON EVENTS: CHURCH-WIDE OUTDOOR GATHERING SCHEDULED! The Task Force to return to worship and other events met this week to discuss the progress we have made for in-person gathering. The group is excited to announce that we will have a Church-Wide Outdoor Fellowship Gathering on Saturday, September 19, at 6:00 p.m., in the Front Street parking lot. We all need to remember to practice our social distancing, wear our masks, and follow the safety measures that will be in place. Please register by clicking here or call the church office, 513-867-5411, for this event to help us prepare. Bring your chairs! The rain date for this event is September 26, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. More details will be shared in the next two weeks.

SECTION 6

Contact Mark Provart at for more details. To register, click here! As a church, if we take this on as a Full Church Project, then we, as a church, can proudly say, "We make a difference in OUR community."

SECTION 7

CONSULTANT UPDATE: The staff has completed the first of five system surveys. On September 13, 2020, a video from Pastor John and Tom Bandy will be shown. In the meantime, the latest information on the consultation is available at www.thepresby.org/consultant-updates. Please be in prayer as church leadership members, small groups, and staff navigate the process to plan a way forward for our church and community. Please call the church if you have any questions.

SECTION 8

MONTHLY COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE: Because of the blood drives that were canceled earlier in the year, the Community Blood Center will now conduct monthly events. The blood drive dates are September 15, October 15, November 19, and December 17, from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. To make an appointment, click here or call 1-800-388-GIVE to schedule a time. Be sure to use the sponsor code #171 when making your appointment.

SECTION 9

DEACON UPDATE: During our August Community Blood Drive, we had 65 individuals register to give whole blood. The event concluded with 56 successful donors and two first-time donors, and because of these donations, 168 people will be positively impacted.

CLOSING

Our scripture of encouragement this week is Romans 15:5-6. "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." We hope this strengthens you for this week's challenges and blessings.

We hope that these changes will be less intimidating than the previous version of the Blitz. If you need further information on any of the topics, please call the office at 513-867-5411. Please know that you are missed and are in our prayers. Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.  We are staying connected in Christ!. Stay safe! Stay healthy!
