This coming Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day in which we honor moms around the world. Years ago, in Anaheim, California, there was a Mother’s Day miracle. Mavis Jackson, originally from the Midwest, moved to California, and every day she would walk past Robert Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral – and each day she would say to herself, “One of these days, I’m gonna go in there.”
She finally decided to attend the church, and went on Mother’s Day, with 3,000 other people, a beautiful choir, 90’ windows; it was amazing. At the end, she turned to a young woman sitting next to her and said, “Aren’t you glad you came today?” The young lady said, “Oh, it was just thrilling.” Mavis said to the young lady, “Are you from here?” The young lady said, “No, I’m actually from the Midwest. I’m on a mission, a mission to find my birth mother.” Mavis looked at her and said, “I understand how you must feel. I had to give up my daughter for adoption, years ago. I didn’t want to.” Then Mavis said, “ What day is your birthday?” The young lady said, “October 30th.” Mavis looked at her and said, “That’s the same day as my daughter’s birthday.”
They looked deep into each other’s eyes, asked more and more questions, and then realized this was Mavis’s little girl. It was indeed a Mother’s Day miracle. I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
