Christian Education Report for January 2016

The Christian Education Ministry continues to plan church-wide, small group, and individual spiritual growth opportunities. In the fall of 2015 we made available to the congregation access to Right Now Media which offers a digital library of resources for all ages.

 

Two times a year a Beth Moore Bible study is offered at three different times on Tuesdays. The current six-week study is “Breath, The Life of God in Us,” and goes through February 16th.

 

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is returning in February.   This is a 9-week class that begins Sunday, February 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. It is being taught by Tiffany and Aaron Webb, graduates of our very first Financial Peace class. You will learn how to beat debt, build wealth, invest for the future, and give like never before!

 

During Lent, the movie “War Room” will be shown in the Court Street Worship Center on February 18th from 6:00-8:30 p.m. For the ticket cost of $10, each person receives a copy of a study guide that can be used in small groups or for individual reflection.

 

At Easter everyone is invited to participate in the city-wide 40-Day Prayer Covenant, culminating on the National Day of Prayer on May 5th, 2016, with Dr. Jerry Kirk, the guest speaker.

 

Sunday morning adult class opportunities are ongoing with a variety of topics--“That the World May Know – Faith Lessons” by Ray Vander Laan, Rick McGuire, facilitator, meets on the 3rd floor of the Front Street Building at 9 a.m.   “The Apocalypse: Controversies and Meaning in Western History" with Professor Craig R. Koester; Allan Bailey, facilitator, meets in the Conference Room of the Front Street Building at 9 a.m.   “The Book of James” with Francis Chan, Bill and Vicki Brunner facilitators, meets in the classroom off the Court Street Sanctuary at 10 a.m.

 

The Presby KidZone Sunday School for Pre-K through 6th grade is held in the Court Street building during the 11 a.m. Praise Service and features state-of-the-art media presentations from the Share Faith curriculum.

 

Presby Youth Group (PYG) for teens in 7th through 12th grades meets on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. PYG activities incorporate Bible study, service projects, participation in Youth Sunday, an annual mission trip, in addition to social gatherings.

 

Summer events for 2016 include the Music and Drama camp

for children who have completed 1st-6th grade, June 20-26th, as well as other family-friendly events to promote outreach and fellowship.
