Report from Community Outreach Committee The Community Outreach Committee is committed to representing The Presbyterian Church as the Heart of Christ in the Heart of the City by participating in downtown and community events. Community Outreach helps to organize church-sponsored multi-denominational events, such as the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday and the Community Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday as well as the National Day of Prayer that is attended by area churches and community leaders. Live Nativity is our opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas with our city and surrounding community each December. Community Outreach also delivers trays of cookies and breads on Christmas Eve to the Hamilton Police Department, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, all five Hamilton Fire Stations, and Fort Hamilton Hospital to show how much our church appreciates all that these public servants do for our city and county. The Community Outreach Committee participates in several community-sponsored and city-wide events throughout the year including the City-Wide Unity Picnic at Booker T. Washington Community Center in June. Each summer we build a float and walk in the City’s 4th of July parade. Recently we began partnering with Church Life to provide a dinner for the Hamilton Joes baseball team in mid summer. In addition to helping with church and community events, Community Outreach has been instrumental in providing funds and volunteers to help decorate the outside of the church throughout the seasons. The flowers in spring and summer; fall décor and pumpkins for Operation Pumpkin in September and October; and lights, banners, and other decorations for Christmas help to make our church a focal point of Downtown Hamilton. Upcoming Events: July 4th Parade Help build the float before the 4th! Walk with the float in the July 4th parade! July 27th Dinner for the Hamilton Joes Baseball teamHelp serve dinner to the teams after the game (all volunteers receive a ticket to the game!) September 23: Bridging Neighborhoods on the High Street Bridge Help celebrate 2018 as the Year of Neighborhoods in Hamilton by joining with your neighbors across the city at one of thirty four tables on the bridge to encourage neighbors to come and get to know each other.
